Dental HIV transmission?
Article Abstract:
The conclusion of C.-Y. Ou and colleagues that a Florida dentist infected five of his patients with the HIV-1 virus is not supported by the data adduced for it. The proper null hypothesis is that the seropositive patients independently acquired similar genetic variants of the virus within the local community. Analysis of data gathered from ten control samples drawn from clinics in the area does not distinguish the null hypothesis from Ou's conclusion. Using the highly variable C2-V3 region of the HIV genome is the basic problem with Ou's research. A larger dataset from a more stable region of the genome is needed.

Article Abstract:
Graphs are used to measure prices of currencies and shares. Patterns emerge from building up graphs, and these can be useful for investors, allowing them to spot trends. One pattern is known as a head and shoulders, and illustrates a rise, then fall in prices. A double bottom may indicate that the price will rise again. Rectangles can be perceived in graphs, and once the rectangle is left behind, a trend could continue for some time. Coppock indicators base their timing on human recuperation patterns from traumas such as a major illness.
