Research is presented concerning the factors which influence the success or failure of species translocation from a native to an alien environment. The greater biotic resistance of species-rich areas is discussed.

Intraspecific competition favours niche width expansion in Drosophila melanogaster

Research is presented concerning broader niche expansion which frequently occurs when a species invades an area which species-poor. The relationship between diversity and intraspecific competition is discussed.

Female feral fowl eject sperm of subdominant males
Article Abstract:
A new study of the fowl Gallus gallus domestricus shows that females consistently eject the sperm of subdominant males and preferentially retain that of dominant males.
