ATF-2 has intrinsic histone acetyltransferase activity which is modulated by phosphorylation
Article Abstract:
Research shows that the DNA-binding protein ATF2 is a histone acetlytransferase which specifically acetylates histones in H2B and H4 in vitro.

A histone octamer-like structure within TFIID
Article Abstract:
The general transcription factor TFIID clusters initiation complex formation by direct core promoter binding, connects promoters within chromatin to transcription and interposes the activities of transcriptional activators. Molecular research on multiprotein TFIID complex have singled out a primary TATA binding subunit, TBP-associated factors and intersubunit interactions. Biochemical evidence is presented for the structural relevance of histone homologies in the human TFIID subunits. Results show TFIID contains a histone octamer-like TAF complex.

Distinct roles of the co-activators p300 and CBP in retinoic-acid-induced F9-cell differentiation
Article Abstract:
Gene expression and cell-differentiation are regulated by factors including the transcriptional co-activators p300 and CBP (cAMP-response-element-binding protein (CREB)-binding protein). Both proteins, which have basic histone-acetlytransferase activity, could mediate chromatin to aid transcription and are also implicated in growth control pathways. New research investigates the functional differences between p300 and CBP in vivo. Their roles during retinoic-acid-induced differentiation of F9 cells are examined. It is concluded that p300 and CBVP, although similar, have distinctly different functions in cell differentiation.
