Doctors seek lost data on Alzheimer's vaccine
Article Abstract:
Data for the first experimental vaccine for Alzheimer's disease are being lost, as the patients who were immunized are not monitored any more. The trials of the vaccine were prematurely ended but doctors hope to learn from the patients who received the shots, as the approach remains to be one of the viable options for controlling the disease.

Clinicians win fight to overturn patent for breast-cancer gene
Article Abstract:
The European Patent Office (EPO) granted an appeal against Myriad Genetics of Salt Lake City over its patent on the gene BRCA1, and ruled that Myriad's claim was invalid as it contains number of small errors in the gene's sequence. Myriad has two other patents covering BRCA1 and opposition hearings for them have been scheduled for Jan 2005.

Retraction ends furore over cancer vaccine
Article Abstract:
The publication regarding the vaccine for terminal kidney cancer is discussed. It is suggested that authors should take responsibility and have more power in within the scientific community.
