Does foraging mode influence sensory modalities for prey detection in male and female filesnakes, Acrochordus arafurae?
Article Abstract:
Freshly captured filesnakes were exposed to artificial prey items providing visual and/or chemical cues to measure tongue-flicked rates and feeding responses of the snakes. Results suggested that males responded most intensely to fish scent, regardless of movement, whereas females responded strongly to the movement, thus providing the first intraspecific evidence for a functional relationship between foraging mode and the types of cues used for prey detection.

Battle of the sexes: Forcibly inseminating male garter snakes target courtship to more vulnerable females
Article Abstract:
A study on garter snakes, Thamnophis sirtalis who forcibly copulate with female snakes by inducing hypoxic stress in females was performed. The study revealed that the males target females emerging from their 8-month winter inactivity as they are weak and slow to resist and by courting females under conditions that maximize the males physical advantage.

Snakes in search of sex: The relation between mate-locating ability and mating success in male garter snakes
Article Abstract:
The unique logistical advantages offered by courting aggregations of garter snakes, Thamnophis sirtalis parietalis, in Manitoba, Canada are explored. The mate-finding ability is unimportant for male garter snakes competing near the den but it is critical in surrounding woodland where densities of rivals are much lower.
