Does the mid-crust flow?
Article Abstract:
Geodetic measurements of surface movements occurring after the injection of magma into fissures indicate that the Earth's mid-to-lower crust resembles the mantle in being ductile rather than brittle. G.R. Foulger and colleagues relied on geodetic observations taken at Iceland's Krafla volcano to deduce the nature of lithospheric rheology or degree of plasticity at the eight to 30 kilometer depth. They suggest that rocks at that level are subjected to considerable cyclical deformation.

Uplift, thermal unrest and magma intrusion at Yellowstone caldera
Article Abstract:
The Yellowstone caldera, in the western US, was formed 640,000 years ago when an explosive eruption ejected material. The observations of new mode of deformation in Yellowstone, based on the observation from the satellite data are described which reveals that the pattern of uplift and subsidence results from variations in the movement of molten basalt into and out of the Yellowstone volcanic system.
