Female choice for spot symmetry in the Trinidadian guppy
Article Abstract:
Studies show that mate choice by females is influenced by asymmetry in male ornaments and is sensitive to degrees of fluctuating asymmetry. A new study investigates the effect of spot asymmetry on female choice in the Trinidadian guppy. Results show that female guppies, given the choice between pairs of males with differing spot symmetry, strongly prefer symmetry in spot patterns.

Size-dependent mate preference in the stalk-eyed fly, Cyrtodiopsis dalmanni
Article Abstract:
Research describing mate choice in the stalk-eyed fly is presented. It is shown experimentally that eyespan influences mate selection and in particular that females prefer large eyespan males.
