Dominant influence of HLA-B in mediating the potential co-evolution o HIV and HLA
Article Abstract:
The study reported that variation in viral set point, in absolute CD4 count and, by inference, in rate of disease progression in the cohort, is strongly associated with particular HLA-B. Further, HLA-B gene frequencies in the population are those likely to be most influenced by human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) disease, consistent with the observation that B alleles evolve more rapidly than A alleles.

T-cell receptor triggering is critically dependent on the dimensions of its peptide-MHC ligand
Article Abstract:
A demonstration states that increasing the dimensions of the T-cell antigen receptor histocompatibility antigens (TCR-pMHC) interaction by elongating the pMHC ectodomain greatly reduces TCR triggering without affecting TCR-pMHC ligation. A similar dependence on receptor-ligand complex dimensions is observed with artificial TCR-ligand systems that span the same dimensions as the TCR-pMHC complex.

Calcineurin sets the bandwidth for discrimination of signals during thymocyte development
Article Abstract:
The article provides insight into early calcineurin and nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) signalling is presented. The mechanism produces a thymocyte development period of ERK (protein kinase) hypersensitivity, which allows very weak signals to induce positive selection.
