Senate hearings strengthen calls for US action over climate
Article Abstract:
Two Senate hearings saw some of the strongest assertions, especially from Republicans, that climate change is a problem and nearly all climate scientists believe that the observed warming is caused by increases in atmospheric levels of greenhouse gases. Senators could not agree on specific energy policies that might address the problem of greenhouse gases but agreed that direct action should be taken.

Deadly flu virus can be sent through the mail
Article Abstract:
The possibility of the mailing the recreated version of the virus, which caused the world flu pandemic in 1918, draws contrasting response. Virologist Jens Kuhn argues that the recreation of the virus is unnecessary and could cause extensive damage if it escapes, while some others counter that the sending of the virus is safe and the studies conducted on them can be very informative.
