Effects of an environmental perturbation on the social behavior and physiological function of brown trout
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the effect of an environmental perturbation such as a drought on the behavior of dominance hierarchies of brown trout. The environmental perturbation was not found to be physiologically stressful.

Does darkening signal submission in territorial contests between juvenile Atlantic salmon, Salmo salar?
Article Abstract:
Juvenile Atlantic salmon parr usually adopt a uniformly pale coloration when on a light-coloured substrate, according to research investigating whether darkening in juvenile Atlantic salmon is linked with submission and whether this signalling could function as a signal to the opponent and thus prompt a change in its behaviour. It was found that darkening of the body and sclera are linked with an aggressive encounter with a dominant fish. It seems that the sudden change to a darker body colour is connected with the moment when a fish loses an aggressive interaction and becomes subordinate to its opponent.
