Effects of forest fragmentation and flowering phenology on the reproductive success and mating patterns of the tropical dry forest tree Pachira quinata
Article Abstract:
Forest fragmentation affects the mating patterns and reproductive success of tropical tree species by reducing pollinator activity, pollen disposition, and outcrossing levels. A study on the effects of forest fragmentation and flowering phenology of the tropical tree Pachira quinata in the dry forest of Costa Rica shows that forest fragmentation affects the mating patterns reducing the number of outcross sires represented in the progeny of isolated trees.

Verifying an Extinction Debt among Lichens and Fungi in Northern Swedish Boreal Forests
Article Abstract:
A critique is presented on using woodland key habitats as a method of conserving fungi and lichen species richness in Sweden's boreal regions. Findings indicate that reliance on this method may cause continued loss of species richness, as the efficacy of woodland key habitats may be overvalued.
