Effects of prairie fragmentation on the nest success of breeding birds in the midcontinental United States
Article Abstract:
The nest predation and brood parasitism rates were measured for four species of birds in 39 prairie fragments ranging from 24 to > 40,000 ha in size in five states in the mid-continental United States in order to assess the effects of fragmentation on the reproductive success of grassland birds. Daily nest predation rates declined with increasing fragment area in case of all the four species.

Nesting success of a neotropical migrant in a multiple-use, forested landscape
Article Abstract:
Conservation management practices can have a significant impact on the nesting success of wood warblers. Research indicates that effective management can improve warbler nesting despite detrimental factors such as nest predation, parasitism and land fragmentation. Beneficial practices include preserving older forest stands far from rival bird populations and their feeding areas.

Patterns of area sensitivity in grassland-nesting birds
Article Abstract:
The nesting success of a bird species can be used to determine whether it is sensitive to habitat fragmentation. This can be used in addition to population density, as discussed in a study of fragmented tallgrass prairie in Missouri.
