Effects of radiotransmitters on natal recruitment of burrowing owls
Article Abstract:
The effects of radiotransmitters on natal recruitment of burrowing owls in eastern Washington, USA is examined as part of a long-term study on natal dispersal and nestling mortality. The radiotransmitter caused mortality of at least 2 of the 174-radiomarked owls, while 2 owls were found dead with their foot caught in the collar.

Post-fledging survival of burrowing owls in Saskatchewan
Article Abstract:
Research on burrowing owls demonstrates that post-fledging survival is significantly correlated with the subsequent breeding season's population size, which in turn affects overall population survival. Findings emphasize the need to focus on this life stage for appropriate management strategies.
