Efficient detection of brown dwarfs using methane-band imaging
Article Abstract:
Differential methane-band imaging is an effective method for detecting brown dwarfs. The method involves removing the image taken in the methane band from a continuum-light image taken in the same spectral region. A strong methane-band absorption in the spectrum helps in the detection of G1229B, a low mass star. The detection of this star requires less than two minutes of integration time. This imaging technique allows the detection of both isolated brown dwarfs in crowded regions and brown dwarfs orbiting around their primary stars.

Heated gaseous streamers and star formation in the Orion molecular cloud
Article Abstract:
The radio maps of a region of Orion molecular cloud show the presence of dense molecular gas filaments. The gas clumps are self-gravitating and are probably regions of star formation. The filaments exhibit internal motion, external heating and gravitational instability. The filament edges and outer sheaths of the clumps are strongly heated by radiations from inner and foreground stars. The maps, prepared using ammonia emission lines, show dynamic interaction between a molecular cloud and stars that form from it.

Evolution of deuterium on Venus
Article Abstract:
A new model of deuterium evolution on Venus to explain the large deuterium-to-hydrogen ratio incorporates features from both the primordial-ocean model and the steady-state model. The synthesis model suggests an initial fractionation combined with an asymptotical approach toward a steady-state value with an initial water abundance of at least 120 times Venus' current water abundance.
