Direct observation of electron dynamics in the attosecond domain
Article Abstract:
The dynamics of ultrafast electron transfer, which is a process important in photo and electrochemistry and used in solid-sate solar cells, molecular electronics and single-electron devices is monitored on attosecond timescales using core-hole spectroscopy. Findings reveal that electron transfer from an adsorbed sulphur atom to a ruthenium surface proceeds in about 320 as.

Towards molecular electronics with large-area molecular junctions
Article Abstract:
The demonstration of a method to manufacture molecular junctions with diameters up to 100 mum with high yields is presented. The technique involves processing the molecular junctions in the holes of a lithographically patterned photoresist and then inserting a conducting polymer interlayer between the SAM and the metal top electrode.

Conversion of large-amplitude vibration to electron excitation at a metal surface
Article Abstract:
Electron emission results from a process that converts large-amplitude vibrational energy of heavy nuclei in the vicinity of the metal surface to translational energy of a metal electron by a mechanism involving electron transfer from the metal to the NO molecule. The various conclusions drawn from the observations are reported.
