Equilibrium cluster formation in concentrated protein solutions and colloids
Article Abstract:
The study reports small-angle scattering and confocal microscopy investigations of two-model system that is protein solutions and colloid-polymer mixtures. It is demonstrated that in both systems, a combination of short-range attraction and long-range repulsion results in the formation of small equilibrium clusters.

Electrifying effects in colloids
Article Abstract:
The centrifugation of charged colloid particles generates an electric field, which can be checked to determine the charge and the mass of macromolecules simultaneously. The approach offers an interesting alternative to electrophoretic methods for characterizing proteins.

Evidence for a macroscopic electric field in the sedimentation profiles of charged colloids
Article Abstract:
Centrifugation is an important technique for separating and analyzing organelles, cells, colloids and macromolecules. The existence of a macroscopic electric field is experimentally demonstrated.
