European Starlings and their effect on native cavity-nesting birds
Article Abstract:
The mean densities of 27 native cavity-nesting birds before and after invasion of sites by the European Starlings suggest that only a small number of bird species are affected by the invasion. Data reveal only sapsuckers show significant decline which is attributable to starlings. Together, research indicates that the impact of starling invasion on populations of native birds is modest.

Accidentally on purpose

Simulating historical variability in the amount of old forests in the Oregon Coast Range
Article Abstract:
Results suggest that historical age-class distibution is highly variable and is inversely related to landscape size. Further, management of old forests based on historical variabilities is feasible only with large landscape areas.
