Evolutionary cut and paste
Article Abstract:
Fossil discoveries can complicate attempts to built simple evolutionary trees. Jennifer Clack has described a 334 million year old fossil amphibian that shows characteristics normally associated with three different types of primitive tetrapod. The mix of characteristics shows that the ecological experimentation in the early evolution of terrestrial vertebrates involved independent evolution of similar features in closely linked groups.

Palaeontologists divided over 'stay at hom' policy for fossils
Article Abstract:
The INternational Association for the Study of Human Paleontology (IASHP) is proposing that requests to move hominid fossils from their country of origin should only do so on the basis of compelling scientific reasons. They believe that the move would result in greater investment in museums in developing countries. However some believe that further restrictions could hold scientific investigation back.
