Evolutionary diversification of TTX-resistant sodium channels in a predator-prey interaction
Article Abstract:
An identification of novel changes in the molecular structure of a sodium channel expressed in snake skeletal muscle, tsNa(sub v)1.4, that are responsible of differences in tetrodotoxin (TTX0 resistance among garter snake populations coevolving with toxic newts is made. The results obtained from the observation show that the evolution of a physiological trait has occurred through a series of unique functional changes in a gene that is otherwise highly conserved among vertebrates.

'Earth system' analysis and the second Copernican revolution
Article Abstract:
Optical amplification methods brought about the great Copernican revolution, which finally placed the Earth in its right astrophysical context. A second 'Copernican' revolution will allow us to look back on our planet to perceive the 'Earth system'. The three main ways to achieve holistic perceptions of the planetary inventory are the 'birds-eye' principle, the digital-mimicry principle and the Lilliput principle.

Climbing the co-evolution ladder
Article Abstract:
The process of co-evolution is discussed which is a concept of entwined evolution may reveal where we are ultimately heading - towards Solaris, or something even scarier. This is also called grand co-evolutionary ladder of entwined transitions of information and environment.
