Invariant visual representation by single neurons in the human brain
Article Abstract:
A report on a remarkable subset of medial temporal lobe (MTL) neurons that are selectively activated by strikingly different pictures of given individuals, landmarks or objects and in some cases even by letter strings with their names is presented. The results suggest an invariant, sparse and explicit code, which might be important in the transformation of complex visual percepts into long-term and more abstract memories.

A painful factor
Article Abstract:
Peripheral nerve injury activates cells in the spinal cord called microglia causing neuropathic pain. Coull and colleagues studies suggests that continuous microglial-neuronal signalling is required to maintain allodynia and it is possible to treat the condition even after neuropathic pain state.
