Evolutionary ecology of human life history
Article Abstract:
Data from a west African village collected between 1950 and 1975 gives a valuable insight into many elements of human life history. This data set is a very complete record of the demography of a natural, food-limited, human population. This population can be seen as illustrating an evolutionary ecological view of human life history. It has been shown that approaches from evolutionary ecology enhance understanding of our own lives. Studies in life history demonstrate that different traits are subject to different selection pressures. A specific life history strategy will be determined by the combination of selection pressures affecting mortality and fertility.

A revised assessment of species redundancy and ecosystem reliability
Article Abstract:
Fundamental assumptions present in ecosystem reliability equations can generate errors that may significantly impact their ability to enhance conservation policies. Asymptotic approaches imply that all species should manifest after a certain period of time. Approaches based on transient decrease of probability of a species being present assume that the presence of a species is correlated to a certain time period.
