Head position as an indicator of producer and scrounger tactics in a ground-feeding bird
Article Abstract:
A new study investigates the foraging behaviour of ground-feeding spice finches to ascertain whether any distinctive behaviour, such as head position, relates to producer and scrounger foraging methods.

Patch departure decisions by spice finches foraging singly or in groups
Article Abstract:
The patch departure behavior of spice finches (Lonchura punctulata) was studied to test the accuracy of marginal value theorem predictions regarding group and single foraging. The model accurately predicted that single foragers remained in the patch longer than groups. The model, however, failed to predict that birds will not equally share the patch and that grouping stems patch exploitation.
