Experimental fiction
Article Abstract:
Science fiction realistically depicting scientists in the laboratory, a genre named 'lab lit', could be a lucrative new genre if exploited by publishers, considering its inherent components of secret knowledge, the thrill of investigation, the backdrops of bustling labs and gleaming machinery. Featuring positively portrayed, realistic scientists on the best-seller list would help promote the image of science especially when it is immediately relevant to modern life and all around in the media.

Defining the functions of trans-SNARE pairs
Article Abstract:
The fusion of yeast vacuoles has been studied and an in vitro was found to occur in obligately ordered stages of priming, docking and fusion. It is now demonstrated that vacuole tethering requires Ypt7, although not SNAREs. Also 'trans' v-SNARE/t-SNARE pairs are found to function transiently, resulting in further steps directly catalyzing membrane fusion.
