Fallout of fertilizers set too low, studies warn
Article Abstract:
The guidelines regarding emissions of nitrous oxide resulting from the use of fertilizers may hamper attempts to limit emissions, as they fail to reward countries for switching to fertilizers that release less nitrous oxide. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) system, which is based on total fertilizer use, had produced guidelines in 1996, which are followed by most of the governments, but the IPCC system deters the countries from investigating a switch to varieties of nitrogen fertilizers that produce less nitrous oxide.

India's ban on foreign boats hinders tsunami research
Article Abstract:
India's ban on foreign vessels to enter the country's territorial waters is hampering the tsunami research, which ultimately sets back attempts to prepare for earthquakes. The research missions gather data from the ocean floors that will boost efforts to model the earthquake and help gauge the likelihood of further major tsunamis in the area.

Hikes in surface ozone could suffocate crops
Article Abstract:
Ozone creates reactive molecules that destroy rubisco, an enzyme crucial for photosynthesis and known to make leaves age faster. The open air studies revealed that ozone may be a threat and that it is likely to be a problem in countries such as India and China that are rapidly industrialisatizing.
