Female choice in a feral guppy population: are there multiple cues?
Article Abstract:
The examination of mating behaviour in a feral guppy, Poecilia reticulata, from Durban, South Africa shows that attraction is positively associated with the degree of orange coloration in all tests and with the length of the gonopodium in some tests. Asymmetry of color spots is examined and it is found that either orange and black spots are not condition-dependent ornaments or the expected negative relation between expression of condition -dependent ornaments and changing symmetry does not take place in these guppies.

A comment on Lafleur et al.'s re-evaluation of mate-choice copying in guppies
Article Abstract:
D.L. Lafleur, G.A. Lozano, and M. Sclafini's failed to substantiate their claim that fish from other habitat aside from those found in Turure River, Trinidad, exhibit mate-copying behavior in their article 'Female Mate-Choice Copying Among Guppies.' The guppies used were questionable in origin and were not caught in Trinidad. Finally, the authors failed to cite other studies that provide evidence for intraspecific mate-choice copying.
