Foraging currencies and the load-size decision of scatter-hoarding grey jays
Article Abstract:
The grey jay (Perisoreus canadensis) collected larger loads and nearly reached the maximal rate of hoarding when the accessibility to food was delayed. The selection of hoarding strategy depends on the net feeding rate of the hoarder. Rate-maximizing hoarding is preferred when the self feeding rate is high. Experimental results are in agreement with the delivery model, because rate rather than efficiency maximization explains the load size decision of jays.

Differential behavioural and hormonal responses of voles and spiny mice to owl calls
Article Abstract:
Rodents reduce overall activity, such as foraging in response to the presence of owls. In a study the playback of a recorded tawny owl produced a marked effect in the social vole, with some voles reducing their activity, although others exhibited a 'flee' pattern. Corticosterone levels in voles were also increased by the owl calls.
