FDA seeks to close xenotransplant gap
Article Abstract:
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is keen to reassure virologists that there are ways of minimizing the public health risks of xenotransplantation. However, a number of virologists still have reservations about xeonotransplantation, stating that it would be impossible to ensure that no diseases are transferred from the donor animal to the human patient. The FDA has emphasized methods such as breeding virus-free donor animal herds and treating patients with antibodies.

Panel calls for fair deal for US postdocs
Article Abstract:
US universities vary too much in their postdoctorate education programmes, according to a American Association of Universities (AAU) report. The AAU believes that postdoctorate education is crucial to research career development. Every postdoctorate appointment should have a suitable educational content for the employee. Postdoctorate appointments should not be extended beyond a six-year appointment.
