'Fraud police' face dilemma over warning medical boards
Article Abstract:
Officials from the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) are debating whether or not to make reports to the state-run bodies about those medically qualified researchers who admit to faking research data. Officials at the Office of Research Integrity (ORI) believe that such a ruling could discourage researchers from admitting their guilt. The cases of two former research fellows, James T. Kurtzman and Anand Tewari, are cited.
