Gamma-band synchronization in visual cortex predicts speed of change detection
Article Abstract:
A study shows that behavioral response times to a stimulus change can be predicted specifically by the degree of gamma-band synchronization among those neurons in monkey visual area V4 that are activated by the behaviorally relevant stimulus. It is found that enhanced neuronal gamma-band synchronization and shortened neuronal response latencies to an attend stimulus seem to have direct effects on visually triggered behavior, reflecting an early neuronal correlate of efficient visuo-motor integration.

How sleep affects the developmental learning of bird song
Article Abstract:
The effects of night sleep on song development in the zebra finch by recording and analyzing the entire song ontogeny is described. During periods of rapid learning a pronounced deterioration in song structure after night-sleep in observed.

Neurons of imitation
Article Abstract:
The article discusses the lately identified brain neurons, which contribute to imitation in all living beings. The findings show that these neurons respond in similar manner, when the songbirds sing and when they hear a similar song.
