Gene therapy put on hold as third child develops cancer
Article Abstract:
Scientists have halted clinical trials of gene therapy to treat a rare immune disorder, less than a year after the trials were relaunched following an earlier stoppage. The trials, which were used to treat different forms of severe combined immunodeficiency disease (SCID), had led to the development of cancer in the children in the trials.

The drugs that are supposed to banish depression are known from years to generate suicidal thoughts in children. Although most of the drugs are not licensed for use in children, doctors have widely prescribed them 'off label' to withdrawn and depressed kids.
