Gilbert's Potoroo: Australia's rarest mammal clings to existence on the slopes of Mount Gardner in Western Australia
Article Abstract:
The remaining population of Gilbert's Potoroos live in Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve on Mount Gardner in Western Australia. The tiny marsupial is classified as critically endangered and its diet consists mainly of underground fruiting fungi. Environmentalists hope that captive breeding and reintroduction to a new habitat will save the species.
