Global histone modification patterns predict risk of prostate cancer recurrence
Article Abstract:
The changes in the global levels of individual histone modifications are associated with cancer and these changes are predictive of clinical outcome. These histone modification patterns are predictors of outcome independently of tumor stage, preoperative prostate-specific antigen levels, and capsule invasion.

Histone acetylation in chromatin structure and transcription
Article Abstract:
The amino termini of histones in the nucleosomal core are modified by deacetylases and acetyltransferases during the cell cycle, affecting their function and charge. Such acetylation patterns could aid in the regulation of gene activity. The correlation of gene activity with histone acetylation has encouraged the study of acetylation and deacetylation, with research showing that histones acetyltransferases are important regulators in gene activation.
