Gravitational tractor for towing asteroids
Article Abstract:
A design concept for a spacecraft that can controllably alter the trajectory of an Earth-threatening asteroid by using gravity as a towline is presented. The design suggests a deflection method by which the spacecraft hovers near the asteroid with its thrusters angled outwards so that the exhaust does not impinge on the surface, which makes it insensitive to the structure, surface properties and rotation state of the asteroid.

A confirmation of the general relativistic prediction of the Lense-Thirring effect
Article Abstract:
The measurment of Lense-Thirring effect on two Earth satellites, which is 99 plusmn 5 percent of the value predicted by general relativity is discussed. The uncertainty of this measurement includes all known random and systematic errors, but we allow for a total plusmn 10 per cent uncertainty to include underestimated and unknown sources of error.

Hard to defend: US missile defence plans require scrutiny
Article Abstract:
The U.S. is planning to deploy one of its missile defense systems in Eastern Europe, although the utility and value of the missile system is unproven. The decision of Congress has angered many of the European nations and the negotiations are expected to take place through bilateral channels, circumventing NATO.
