Hans Keirstead, assistant professor at the Reeve-Irvine Research Center in Irvine, California, discusses his thesis on a method for regenerating damaged spinal cords by the removal of myelin. He feels that a real advantage for him is to be able to work with human tissue in basic research and those stem cells are becoming a universal tool.
