Hemispherical variations in seismic velocity at the top of the Earth's inner core
Article Abstract:
Research into seismic velocity at the top of the inner core of the Earth is described. The study found differences between results from the 'western hemisphere' of the inner core and results from the 'eastern hemisphere'.

The plastic deformation of iron at pressures of the Earth's inner core
Article Abstract:
Research is presented concerning the the plastic and elastic deformation of iron at pressures equivalent to that of the Earth's core. Synchrotron X-ray diffraction is used to study the mechanisms of deformation.

Inner core takes another turn
Article Abstract:
It has been established that the Earth's inner core rotates around 0.15 degrees per year more rapidly than the mantle. The need for further research in this area is highlighted.
