Herbicide critic dropped from pollution conference
Article Abstract:
Tyrone Hayes of the University of California has published extensively on links between low levels of exposures to the herbicide atrazine and development defects in amphibians. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency withdrew the invitation for Hayes to deliver the plenary talks at its Air, Water and Waste Conference in February 2005.

Caveman DNA hints at map of migration
Article Abstract:
Scientists found matches with 47 Native Americans from tribes living in areas ranging from North American to Tierra del Fuego, to demonstrate the spread of caveman's descendants. The caveman belonged to 'lineage D', one of the five founding lineages believed to have settled in the Americas more than 10,000 years ago.

Sequencers step up to the speed challenge
Article Abstract:
Some estimates claim that there are about forty new ideas on how to sequence DNA percolating in labs, and several companies are exploiting them. A report on the firms working on such ideas for developing devices that would enable the sequencing of patient DNA swiftly and cheaply is presented.
