High-tech conservation
Article Abstract:
The Science Resource Center (SRC) helped scientists of the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) assess the population of animals and prevent their extinction using latest computer technologies such as CD-ROM and online data base. The satellite communication system of SRC helped trace endangered species by linking scientists of WCS and field biologists in far-off areas. The origin of several species can be ascertained by investigating the DNA obtained from the blood of the animals.
