South Korean biotechnology-a rising industrial and scientific powerhouse
Article Abstract:
A glimpse at the Korean stock market, which is focusing primarily on the development of new brand drugs, medical devices, bioinformatics and functional genomic research, is presented. Three major lessons learnt for encouraging startup activity in countries with a relatively well-developed educational, research, financial and industrial infrastructure are discussed.

Tamiflu side effects come under scrutiny
Article Abstract:
Japanese pediatricians are investigating whether Tamiflu, prescribed widely in Japan for defense against avian flu, may be causing mental instability and suicidal tendencies. An earlier study that cleared any connection between Tamiflu and 'abnormal behavior' is considered unreliable, bringing the drug under scrutiny again.
