IBM joins genomics mapping consortium
Article Abstract:
IBM has joined a consortium established to produce a map of human genetic markers, or single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs). The consortium is planning to identify 300,000 SNPs by April 2001, and has already mapped 150,000 to their positions on the genome. SNPs will assist in locating genes in disease.
