Impairment of dynamin's GAP domain stimulates receptor-mediated endocytosis
Article Abstract:
Endocytosis is accelerated in cells transiently overexpressing dynamin mutants that are defective in assembly-stimulated GTP hydrolysis. This finding has made it possible to propose a new model for the GTPase cycle of dynamin in endocytosis. It appears that GAP activation takes place through stacking interactions between dynamin tetramers which can form only when an overlapping turn of the dynamin spiral is completed. It can be concluded that dynamin acts as a molecular regulator, like a classical GTPase.

Tubular membrane invaginations coated by dynamin rings are induced by GTP-gamma-S in nerve terminals
Article Abstract:
Dynamin, a GTPase implicated in a synaptic vesicle endocytosis consists of membraneous tubules in its walls. The tubules, except the distal ends, exhibits a positive response for immunoreactivity. The dynamin, along with clathrin reacts with different sites for forming endocytic vesicles. This indicates that the dynamin is involved in the tubule formation by the process of vesicle stalk elongation.

Dynamin self-assembles into rings suggesting a mechanism for coated vesicle budding
Article Abstract:
The spontaneous self-assembly of dynamin into stacks of interconnected rings results in the formation of coated vesicle budds. The dynamin stacks are identical to the 'collars' found in the necks of invaginated coated pits formed at synaptic terminals of shibire flies. The dynamics assembly also constricts the coated pits, which eliminates the budds at the final stages.
