Implications of cloning
Article Abstract:
Cloning is useful in biotechnological applications such as the formation of pharmaceutical proteins in milk and organs transplantations. The cloning of sheep using nuclear transfer from a cell line will allow the formation of a group of sires that can be used to produce transgenic animals. Some of the Welsh lambs that have been born by this method showed defective development of the urino-genital tract. The recipient ewes did not show any health disorders. The technique will not be clinically or ethically correct for cloning humans and is against the UK laws.

NMDA-receptor regulation of substance P release from primary afferent nociceptors
Article Abstract:
The role of N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA)-type glutamate receptors on the release of substance P from primary afferent nociceptors was established by analyzing the results following injection of NMDA on the cerebrospinal spinal fluids of rat spinal cord. Results revealed that presynaptic NMDA receptors positively influence the the primary afferent terminal like any typical autoreceptor and acts antagonistically with endogenous opioids.
