Infanticide in great reed warblers: secondary females destroy eggs of primary females
Article Abstract:
Infanticidal behaviour among reed warblers can be studied using plasticine eggs which retain the imprint of a beak, allowing the species of the perpetrator to be identified. Primary female reed warblers suffer a high nest loss rate and the experiment with plasticine eggs indicates that this is due to infanticide by secondary females. Low-ranking females will benefit from the failure of a primary female's nest since the male then invests more in the low ranking female's nest.

Infanticide and control of reproduction in cooperative and communal breeders
Article Abstract:
The level of discrimination that is necessary for infanticide to become an effective means of control over breeding is investigated. The capacity for discriminate infanticide to promote high reproductive skew, even though few or no offsprings are actually killed, are demonstrated in a simple game-theoretical model.

Adaptive significance of antipredator behavior in artiodactyls
Article Abstract:
Comparative and systematic data to test the functional hypothesis for 17 anti predator behavior patterns for 200 species of artiodactyls is used. The analysis gives a new generalized explanation for anti predator behavior patterns.
