Iniatives target abuses in 2000
Article Abstract:
Cockfighting and trapping are among the animal protection issues expected to appear on state ballots in 1999-2000. Other initiatives would ban poisons used to kill predators, ban dog racing and protect dogs from being automaticall destroyed by animal control agencies.

Lab cruelty caught in camera
Article Abstract:
Poor conditions at the Oregon Regional Primate Research Center have been exposed by an animal technician employed there. Many monkeys were psychologically disturbed, badly housed and needed veterinary care.

Article Abstract:
Animals in the US gained increased protection following issues included in the election in November 2000, including the banning of some traps and poisons in WA, and the outlawing of game farms in MT.
