Initiation of V(D)J recombination in vitro obeying the 12/23 rule
Article Abstract:
The signals that regulate V(D)J recombination are composed of heptamer and nonamer with 12 or 23 base pair separators in between. The process progresses only between two signals of varying space durations. In vitro study of a lymphoid cell line that was carrying truncated Rag1 and Rag2 protein forms resulted to signal sequences that abide by the 12/23 rule. This rule was considered as a standard in the organization and pattern restructuring of antigen/receptor sites.

A common precursor for primitive erythropoiesis and definitive haematopoiesis
Article Abstract:
It has been demonstrated, using an in vitro embryonic stem cell differentiation system, that primitive erythroid and other haematopoietic, or blood cell, lineages derive from a multipotential precursor, blast cell colony-forming cells (BL-CFC). It is possible that the BL-CFC moves to different sites in the developing embryo and gives rise to multilineage or primitive haematopoiesis. Details of the study are presented.
