Islands within islands
Article Abstract:
The New Zealand government protects its kiwis and other rare birds by sheltering them in island sanctuaries where public access is usually restricted. Mainland islands were created to show the rare birds to the public, who pay the taxes for their conservation. The benefits of having this type of island are explained.
