A revolutionary philosopher of science
Article Abstract:
Thomas S. Kuhn, a revolutionary philosopher of science, died on June 17, 1996. He is best known for his principle of incommensurability of alternative paradigms, published in his popular book, 'The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.' Initial criticism of his work by the traditional philosophers of science gradually declined and he was appointed President of the Philosophy of Science Association in 1988. Social relativists, however, are critical of his simplistic and positivist approach to science.
