Science and the Islamists
Article Abstract:
Young Muslims must be encouraged and guided toward scientific ambition as Muslim nations stand to gain much from science and technology. Islamic fundamentalists, however, are repressing any openness and putting restrictions on expressions and wealthy Arab states are also displaying lack of interest in science, and therefore, Muslim youths need to draw inspiration from the diverse attitudes of fellow Muslim states, reclaiming a great economic past in which new knowledge was valued and scholars were free to pursue any field they chose.

Where are the new patrons of science?
Article Abstract:
Countries in the Gulf with rich reserves of oil are wealthy and have all the resources at hand, however, they have shown total disregard for development of science and technology in their countries, as they too often view science as a commodity that can be separated from the thought processes that led to it. Muslim nations need to turn to science and technology in a big way to catch up with the rest of the world, where technology is changing daily, otherwise they will fall behind in the global economy.
