Landscape-scale foraging decisions by reintroduced Arabian oryx
Article Abstract:
The Arabian oryx is a desert antelope that has been hunted almost to extinction and its preservation relies on a captive breeding program aimed at eventually returning them to the wild. A study of a reintroduced herd of Arabian oryx in Oman is designed to explore the effects of captive breeding on their learning and foraging behaviour. The study suggests that the limited knowledge of captive-bred oryx can has an important effect on their foraging strategies, particularly when forage conditions deteriorate.

Breeding season bird use of recently restored versus natural wetlands in New York
Article Abstract:
The relative abundance and density of birds in restored and natural wetlands in northern New York were investigated. Birds were classified as wetland dependent, wetland associated or nonwetland. Abundance of species and of individuals in all three groups did not differ between restored and natural wetlands. Densities of all three groups were lower at restored sites. Bird populations were less similar between restored and natural sites than among restored sites.
