Logistic analysis of animal contests
Article Abstract:
The contests between pairs of competing animals have long been of interest to animal behaviorists. The workings and suitability of logistic regression are reported, with particular focus on recent animal contest studies. Logistic regression is used when the aim is to examine the functional relationship between a proportional response variable, and other continuous and/or categorical explanatory variables. The use of logistic regression is advocated to allow researchers to achieve maximum returns from attempts to answer significant biological questions.
