Long-term eruptive activity at a submarine arc volcano
Article Abstract:
Direct observations and sampling of an eruption at a submarine arc volcano named NW Rota-1, located 60km northwest of the island of Rota is described. A pulsating plume permeated with droplets of molten sulphur disgorging volcanic ash and lapilli from a 15-m diameter pit in March 2004 and again in October 2005 near the summit of the volcano at a water depth of 555 m is observed.

Magmatic events can produce rapid changes in hydrothermal vent chemistry
Article Abstract:
Chemical data from hydrothermal fluid samples collected in September 1999 and June 2000 are suggestive of the fact that the recent volcanism in the area of the Main Endeavour Field was volcanic in origin. The volatile data from this event shows that such magmatic events can have profound and rapid effects on fluid-mineral equilibria, phase separation and others.

An off-axis hydrothermal vent field near the Mid-atlantic ridge at 30 degrees N
Article Abstract:
Research describing the characteristics of a hydrothermal vent field named Lost City near the Mid-Atlantic Ridge is presented. This field is unusual in that it is 15 km from the spreading axis and therefore in old crust.
